Hope it dries...so it won't slow down. Only confusing part...why is the huge jump not in the stadium area?

See that's why I like them. The WTB compound was fairly firm which is perfect for grabbing the ends or pressing into my palm even.

@bturman So you know I'm a bull on a bobsled DH rider. But on a trail bike, I love to get it off the ground, rather than tractor everything since 90% of trails are just little bumps. That being said, Pisgah is steep climbing. I used to hate the Enduro seat tube angle putting me way off the back and almost looping out. How does this thing compare as far as positioning when handling things like switchbacks, steep waterbars, etc? Is it the loop out or floating front end sensation?
Also, I personally love the PadLoc grips. Now that you've ridden a pair, would love to hear your thoughts on them.

No mention of how many points out of 1st place the top 10 qualifiers are?

Again, the berms/ruts getting blown out by the time the last guys do their runs has NEVER changed the fact that they are ARE the top qualifiers and that they are ONLY 10 to 15 riders take that one last shot. 10,15, 20 riders all leaving the gate at the end of the day within 1 single hour of one another are NOT destroying the course. That's all..10-20 people on one last run. If the course is cooked when they go and weather hasn't changed, the course isn't disintegrating.

You're talking about 1 single thing. When you're watching videos and interviews and they talk about courses being blown out, they're talking to the winners and/or top 5 people from that day, it's never to the top qualifier who suddenly lost the whole race and fell to 30th because the 10th through 70th riders had a less "blown out" course". The top 10 riders coming down at the end of the day all get the exact same "BLOWN OUT COURSE". Bulldog doesn't come through and just remove a berm with the might of his thighs and then no one else in the top 10 gets to ride that berm anymore.

To add, in other motor sports, some regulations are to safety (NASCAR regulator plates keep people from floating away at 220mph) and a select few are to prevent billionaires from out-teching the millionaire. But we have NO unobtainable technology that is vastly unfair to competition. This was simply a "we raced it first" wheel which will be quickly mimicked.

Where the problem lies is not in the competitive advantage or any safety concern. It's quite literally that our industry is filled with small, medium and large companies with a glut of inventory in every bike category and no clear definition of what the consumer is going to DEMAND.

It just shows as a pre-cursor of a contraction of the industry. There is way too much supply, far too many choices and now we will have to wait to see where the demand is. Companies are going to have to fold/collapse/contract for a few years now. THAT is why 27.5 & 29" drive came along AFTER the economic downturn in 2008. Bike businesses folded and consolidated to the point where Specialized & Giant could say "Lets push this market segment hard and let the out of demand size keep trickling away"

And I'm not referring to just their company's it's all mountain bike manufacturers. None of them have any idea what to order what to design or what to build in the current market

I think what you're actually hearing is two guys who know the sales figures of the companies that they represent and all the other manufacturers who are sitting there with frames they can't sell Wheels they can't sell it cetera

If I were A 2018 World Cup course designer , I'd take it as a personal challenge to put as many hairpins, switchbacks, chicanes and cork screws in the courses just to see if 29ers could even make it around the turns. You can make the tracks defeat the bikes.

It's funny. Riders and fans want gnarlier tracks but we keep seeing the wheel size increase which smooths it out.. kind of hypocritical if you ask me.

I think two good points were made by Loic and Brendan in the dirt walk around. If everyone gets 29ers, it's the same race, just on bigger wheels. The only people that lose are the amateurs who now have to buy, new frame, new fork, new wheels, new tyres. It's not really progression, it's a...more

Sarcasm. They were giving each other a hard time. Neko knew Aaron's run sucked, but also knew he'd taken a beat down the last 2 years with injuries and mechanicals himself while at Scott and was too pumped that he finally got a break. hah hah

No tire mattered on that surface. It was bone dry hardpacked dirt with a layer of fresh slime on top. If you put motor oil on concrete, your tires don't matter. The only tire they could have pulled out that would have penetrated that was snow tires with screws to punch into the clay. Still wouldn't have helped with the driving wind and sudden dense fog. Champerey was already a boggy, chunky demon before the rain and most ELITE pros who only run clipless were practicing it in flats just to make the turns. The rain at Champerey was gnarly, but the ground was already soft and everyone was already on mud tires anyway.
