There's a huge difference between racing world cups and free-riding. Any of the guys who ride in rampage would tear this up with much less hesitation. He's used to groomed world cup downhill courses, and that's what he does best. Seems pretty gimmicky, especially putting "freely rotating" parts on something to make it more rigid, and putting those parts right in the dirt.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately my browser didn't offer to translate it like it normally does. The graphs are still interesting though. It's gotten me motivated to start drafting some of my favorite bike's geometries into Solidworks for some data of my own!

I really appreciated the graphical data of leverage curves and axle paths! Was that produced by Yeti? I would really like to see more comparisons like that with other bikes and would be interested to see its correlation to ride characteristics.

We agree completely agree with the comments about the Shimano drivetrain. We updated our spec to the new clutched derailleurs and a double crank on the Race and Pro kits as soon as we could, unfortunately the bike we provided for this test had last years Race kit. The clutch derailleurs...more

Way to go Rock Shox! For those who believe this is bad marketing, take a second to think: Did they make this product memorable? Did it evoke an emotion? Based on the overwhelmingly heated responses to this post I would say, yes. Whether people caught the joke and laughed, or missed it and became outraged, they made a memorable impression on all of us and got people talking about their product. Absolute success by marketing standards!
