How about a custom ENVE build? M60 HV on DT Swiss 180 hubs, plus a bearing upgrade from Ceramic Speed: total cost $3750, according to WheelBuilder.com. (I don't think I can share specific builds from their site, but if you plug in all the same options ... more »
Shane Stokes at CyclingTips had the most interesting piece of context so far: "Meanwhile Van den Driessche’s father has, predictably, insisted upon her innocence. [...] His words will likely be viewed with some scepticism, as her brother is currently ... more »
Boohoo, Aaron Gwin doesn't love us enough... This is the most popular thread on Vital right now, and every other comment on anything Gwin-related is asking who he's riding for. People are having fun speculating, and he knows it, and he's just egging ... more »
Your step uncle's best friend is right. My former roommate's ex-girlfriend's dentist was sitting behind Bruni and Vergier and Brosnan in an Arby's last week, and he said everything here is true.
I got a GoPro. Good motivation to put on those fresh tires I've been saving under the bed, get some new brake pads, and go ride that one trail that scares me... do it for the shot, right?
Hot off the Gwinstagram: All this talk about teams and sponsorship changes next year and we're just out here like... @juanhall #spoileralert #herodirt #ilikebikes A video posted by Aaron Gwin (@aarongwin1) on Dec 20, 2015 at 1:21pm PST
Graves to Specialized: it's Pinkbike Official now. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/jared-graves-specialized-team-2016.html
Oh, this is fun. "In the Look for" = ? "Hole in the mountain" = Canyon? "the eScobar" = Specialized? "a system of down under guy" = Somebody Australian or from NZ?
"...it's obvious people are hooked on the simplicity and clean look of 1X systems, so making them more accommodating of a larger range of riders (fit or otherwise) is clearly a priority for all the brands." SRAM deserves credit for their marketing department. ... more »
As much fun as that is to imagine, I think he's just using SRAM Matchmaker.
Pinkbike scoped out the custom link that Gwin/Brosnan have been running: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/aaron-gwins-troy-brosnan-specialized-demo-prototype.html Basically, the WC pros wanted slightly more progression in the suspension, so Big S CNC'd up some custom links.
Looks a lot more like the Sunn DH frame of a couple years ago, to me.
Looks like whatever Brosnan's got going on back there, Gwin's got it too. I thought I was imagining it when I first looked at this shot but now I'm more convinced. https://instagram.com/p/0LHTxMFSpm/
So, what happens now? I have to assume that at least one or two people at the UCI are intelligent enough to realize that preventing the Syndicate from registering would be a bad decision. Is there some sort of appeal process?
Neko/Scott publicly confirmed. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/gstaad-scott-welcomes-neko-mulally-2015.html EDIT: The video somebody mentioned is public now too.
I want to say yes, but my perception was that the top of the game changed after Gwin made everybody look silly for a season. Seems like the serious factor got turned up another notch (in terms of training, diet, etc). It's not impossible that somebody ... more »
As far as I see it, it's pretty easy to set up your bike so that you won't get any flats. Throw in some nice, thick tire liners, a pair of heavy-duty tubes--maybe even some sealant in the tubes--and pump those suckers up nice and firm. Flat-free! But, ... more »
Gwin confirmed SRAM drivetrain but Fox suspension today. A rare combination. Apart from Lapierre I can't think of any other teams running that set-up.
Gwin states in the video he's signing a letter of intent, not a contract. I've gotta say that Martin Whiteley is just making himself look desperate by putting this all out in public and trying to shame Gwin. Somebody ought to take away Whiteley's laptop ... more »
