Is it me or old Hans sounds a bit sour about the whole game??? And, Spomer, he was about the unleash some crunchy info about how European trial riders were better then the Ryan Leef, Jeff L. era here but lacked exposure. Would have loved a bit of controversy / different opinions!! Great, pod, probably my favorite one to date with the Stickman one. Old heads make the best interviews for sure. Thanks guys

@Brines, Isiah scored 53 last night and he's a generous 5.8! JK, I know he's an outlier, but had to point it out!!!

Great dude, amazing athlete, 100% pro. That being said, I don't know how I feel about him asking for the questions ahead of time. I get where he's coming from, and he is smart in that he really cares about the image he's putting to the public.

Ironically though, its this...more

I feel you 100% and I had the exact same thought when he said that at the beginning of the interview. I'm like, he's an absolute crusher, no doubt, but DH racing is an ultra-niche sport with a descent amount of coverage, but that ultimately touches a only handful of people in the general population. Does Steve Ballmer get the questions in advance when he goes on Simmons' podcast? Or anybody for that matter? The real flavor gets out when adversity is mixed with a good dose of humility, honesty and humor. And you simply can't get that with a scripted interview. It's ok for a print interview, of course, but the whole point of this podcast isn't getting somebody to talk freely on diverse subjects linked to mtbing? A recap of AG's diet isn't crunchy enough, or could be printed and make a good read. What about enduro? Minnaar's take on it?

The whole interview is great, as usual, but I much prefer hearing people speaking candidly on stuff than knowing that they thought about their answer PRIOR to the actual taping of the podcast

So does this replace the A1 as an all-mountain/enduro helmet or it's more of an XC orientated helmet? I can't understand the segmentation of this product compared to the A1??

Best mtb movie since Earthed 1. Thank god somebody understood that rad riders having fun on their bikes warrants a film more than an array of freeriders filmed with expensive slo mo cams.

C50_img_2339_flat_tire

I see your point. It's a definite evolution of an old standard that came to be in an era of non-standardized designs and suspension setups. I can't help myself but to think that, at the moment, it's a clear benefit for SRAM, they obviously did their homework regarding the actual tech that could be changed and improved in a shock, but what about the other suspension manufacturers? I had some discussions yesterday with people working these other manufacturers and they said it's logical and coherent evolution, but can't see a definite change on the actual product they put out there except the change on how length and stroke are referred to in terms of metric and imperial measures.

I'm afraid they are gonna standardize the shock lengths, but not the actual tech in the shocks; or maybe it's more of long shot deal like it's written in the article.

And what about Fox? They are a big player, but get no mention in the article?

Anyway I'm curious to see the evolution of that whole thing. I see much more potential in this then the "boost" evolution for rear triangles. Now if somebody can write an article as good as this one on why in the world they didn't use the 150mm standard instead of creating a 148mm standard!...

Guys, that's a great article, thanks!

But it left me wondering if it's a solution to a problem that didn't really exist???

I'm all for better and improved tech, but the actual system didn't pose that big of a problem as it is now IMHO. I'm no suspension wizard or bike manufacturer though...

A quote from one of the best mtb racer in the hizzzztory of this noble sport: "With Maxxis, you just run the Minion, and you just call it good,'' said Graves of his long-time favorite tire. ''You're just so used to that tire, but I've been trying a lot of different combinations to learn about the product and what does work best in a given sort of condition. It's been a lot of fun actually. It makes you think about things you wouldn't normally think about." http://www.pinkbike.com/news/jared-graves-specialized-enduro-bike-check.html

Well I'm sure you have your own reasons, and good ones also, but the DHF is the single best mountain bike tire produced to date. Some may come close, but it's still the king. And I'd go as far as to say your statement is about as misleading as there is about the DHF: the DHF is really good in about every surfaces, except really hardpacked trails and a full on gong show of mud.
