Tell me that wasn't the whoops guy from last year's WC in Cairns.

I'm a lean fellow and run 750mm bars on my trail-bike, but that top section put the fear in me just watching it. The rest was quite techy as well...should be a riot!

I'm guessing he came from a moto background or at least rides them a ton. I'd be beyond shocked if he didn't.

If I could ride that fast, I'd tell you why but, alas, I can't ride that fast. :/

He might get a 6th subscriber - I'm all about them stunts.

It gave me flashbacks to the lower-woods at Mt. Hood Skibowl in late-summer.

They COULD run a WC a little earlier in the season since it's late-summer in Australia and all the regular WC tracks are still snowed-in or too swampy to run early-on.
He's also one of the most complete/well-rounded riders in the business. He would have killed it back in the days when you raced XC, DS and DH over the same weekend...no doubt in my mind.

Haven't heard much about him since the season ended...perhaps he underwent massive amounts of plastic surgery?

I was graduating high school in FL when this came out, so I was oblivious to this movie, needless to say. That soundtrack is soooooooo '80's it hurts!
It'd be a bummer if you had to put that over the back of a pick-up truck for a shuttle with that cable-routing.

According to my estimates (likely on the lower side of the actual total), that was at least $2 million in bikes. I'd hit all of them.

Win or lose...

I can't think of a 5 minute period in my life prior to watching this that I've laughed and cringed as hard as I did as often as I did. Proper soundtrack as well!
I'm also amazed that nobody tried the high line in that first section. Looks like it was a relatively smooth and straight line...as much as any line could have been on those rigs.
They are actually downhillers which, back then, also did XC, and Dual-slalom. Others even raced road, track, bmx and even rode trials. DH was insanely infantile and fringe back then. As kidwoo mentioned, Palmer essentially gave DH the wake-up-call it had been waiting for.
More moto than moto. Rider of the year, IMHO.

Unreal! I'd be thrashed by the 3rd lap...if I even made it that far. Mad props to you both - and to those behind the scenes as well.

I would disintegrate trying to go that fast.
