What size rim was that with though? Rim width plays a huge factor, as I'm much more confident on my 2.4's on a 35mm rim than I am on a 21mm rim. I'll be -rebuilding one of my wheelsets for this reason soon too.

I've been using a 1x10 setup with SRAM x9 type 2 derailleur and a Woolftooth chainring for 3 years now without a chain drop. Don't like it, don't buy it, they are still making 2x drivetrains. Maybe I'm just a freak, but I haven't found a hill yet I could climb with my old 2x9 drivetrain that I can't climb with my 1x. I even had a Leonardi General Lee Cassette Adapter for a while (until I wore it out) but the only time I got into the 40t previously was long sustained climbs. I don't see myself personally needing more than a 40t, but I'm sure there are others that will welcome it.

And if you don't think it's innovation, just watch how much better full squish bikes will start riding in the near future.

Your weight whinge doesn't add up. One of the only issues with 1x11 is top speed. I think this is more about be able to run a bigger ring up front, rather than an easier climbing gear. There are a load of advantages to using 1x11 (or...more

Have you picked up an XX1 or XTR cassette? They are freaky light. You will lose, what, 25g by going to a more compact cassette? Sounds like a win.

ree, there is only one universal metric when it comes to shoe sizing between brands and that is the physical CM length on the shoe. Look up what DC shoes CM length is and then find the closest thing to it in 5.10's sizing. it is usually the last...more

If it's anything like going from a 2.25 to a 2.4 Ardent I wouldn't be surprised. The wider tread responds much differently, and you can use lower pressures due to the higher volume. Besides, why wouldn't you run a 2.4 if it fits? Weight? Worth the price to me.

Having run Maxxis Ardent's in a 29x2.4 on a Stan's Arch (not newer EX, but old Arch) as well as a Velocity Blunt 35 I can vouch for existing wider tire designs benefiting from the wider rim. I'll be unlacing my old wheels to take advantage of those benefits on both my mountain bikes this winter.

Akrigg is about one video away from being the most sought after cyclist for any brand. He could sell anything. I had a quick moment of thinking CX would be fun.

Have they been granted any patents for the "technology" yet though?

Clearly RaceFace rings use a different shock leverage ratio, so the patents are not infringed...

That's what I've been using the last season. Better/more usable ratios too.

I need my hands for work so I wear gloves in case of a crash. I can't tell you how many times I've clipped trees and still ended up with battered/bruised hands. On the road is different however, depends on the weather.

It seems to me that doing so creates a gap for the chain to get caught in and fold causing catastrophic failure. Wouldn't a better solution, (and one that doesn't piss off SRAM) be to just use the limit screw and... limit the derailleur stroke?
