sofa king, In no way would I want to take on a job like that. A. I don't have the time due to a full time 'real' job. B. I did a short stint in retail and I imagine it would be too close to that experience (having to deal with whiney b!tches like myself,

sspomer, in so many words that what I was doing-alone. Problem was that what little info I was given was either incorrect or changed without any notice. That lead to a bit of confusion on the forum. Example that comes to mind, although not that important ... more »

sspomer, Thanks for chiming in. And I think that's an excellent idea. Here's another thought: I've bagged on our Utah State DH Race series a bit, which includes traditional DH, Super D and now a Trail Bike DH class. When I started competing in 2006,

The world is really coming to an end now. After the Transition, Knolly, Fox Racing Shox grassroots offers that popped up last Nov/Dec one would think the sport would be coming to a halt with some of the opinions thrown out here. I just opened the email

Hmmm....well I almost went with the 'Is USA Cycling hurting our sport?' thread instead as I've seen some heated debates on that topic elsewhere, but that seemed a bit played out but could also be thrown into the mix. Reason it came to mind is that I ... more »

Von, there was no offense taken on my part at all. I think you made a valid point/example and I just happened to use it as I think there are some people and companies out there who may feel that way about the casual racer. In particular, I would venture ... more »

Seems the 'Grassroots' debate amongst all 5 Vital members died off. Probably, due in part to my douchebaggery. Oh well. I got the impression, in so many words, from the Vital admin that piped in right out of the box and those employees of this sites' ... more »

Well Von, I was rubbing Go-Ride and you guys a bit. But keep in mind that intertwined amongst all my bitching I do think you guys are thinking outside the box and that is what I was trying to drive home. A. You have an online presence. B. Your shop is ... more »

oldmandave, I'm not discounting or disagreeing with anything you've written as like k.Shiz mentioned it gives another important perspective. However, I think that shops like Go-Ride and The Fix are in a odd conundrum. Sure Go-Ride could be considered ... more »

k.shiz and shop owners, Like I mentioned, I think this debate boils down the hard feelings of the bike shop owner vs. the companies/people using grassroots deals-with a bit of gray area inbetween. I honestly wish I didn't 'need' to use those deals nor ... more »

Well, I admit I do order from the likes of JensonUSA and have for almost a decade. I'm not a fanboy of the place and feel their CS has gone to pot the past couple of years, but like the Fix and Go-Ride they also have store fronts and usually when I call ... more »

k.shiz, Perhaps I didn't explain my point well with the 'music industry' comparision. What I was trying to point out was that the way people were acquiring music was changing and rather than adapt and change their business model to survive, most did ... more »

I don't necessarily agree. I can see the logic, just don't agree. Why? Apparently I do not possess the skills nor the luxury of time/racked with monetary debt to enjoy a 'free ride' in the mountain bike racing world. No big deal. It is what it is. Plus ... more »

30 second shock swap out? Whatever, I can swap the rear shock on my hardtail in half that time.

I really lliked my first generation Nomad and have come close to buying a the new VPP2 model more than a few times. However, as time goes on the Blur LT2 is looking more and more appealing. Yo Yo Yo Check This Out's bike above along with Voreis' LT2 have to be doing wonders for Santa Cruz's sales of that bike.

Does the chubby new receptionist count? Noticed I used 'chubby' instead of 'fat', 'heavy', 'chunky', 'grotesquely huge' so as to not offend anyone with a really fat ass and who cannot control their caloric intake or get motivated to exercise.

Actually Margaret Thatcher invented Australian downhilling as a scaremonger tactic, not global warming. It was Reagan who invented global warming when Alzheimers finally got a decent stranglehold on his mental faculties. However his version was pressing ... more »

I have to say I'm pretty excited about that because I completely missed out on the Y2K festivities. Apparently I was sleeping and when the world ended that time. But I'll have a Red Bull ready in 2012.
