I totally agree it's ok to be skeptical and to demand high standards - but I wish we didn't post numerous rants and concerns about things that are already addressed in the article...however, I do find the broken tire and rock in tire comments quite funny - as they were meant to be.

Open minds people? Good grief, the write up already explains that the open sidewalls is addressed with a thin sidewall. It also mentions adjustable 'give' to imitate variable tire pressure. This could be way cool.

Very well, I agree that both companies are making a great advancement in the POV world. I also think that GoPro's sample footage is recorded in perfect lighting and enhanced by very good editors. I know that most raw GoPro footage does not look as good as most of their internet videos. I bet...more

Sorry, I should have been more specific - the camera looks awesome in terms of value and performance, not just appearance. I've got Contours and a GoPro Hero 2 in the house. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I would offer that GoPro has definitely had a huge advantage in marketing, sponsor placement, and distribution. I think that has contributed to their success more than footage comparisons by far. I doubt most users get too excited about the quality and care more about what their friends and their favourite sports icons use. Just my opinion. Both are excellent camera companies.

Good grief...who cares. This camera looks awesome, eliminates some of the extra features that people were complaining were 'excessive and costly' and just plain works.

Why are there so many Contour haters out there? They don't make any claims about being better than GoPro, they just market their cameras and do their thing? I don't get why so many people make ignorant statements when they advertise...

Amazing race! CG may have finished out of the top five but he was easily #1 on style!!! Incredible run by Gwin. A little disappointed to see minimal coverage on Stevie Smith? The guy beats out most of the top contenders even with a bobble or two in his run and next to no mention... Great coverage by Freecaster overall though! So awesome to watch this online!

Self filmed and edited with my golden retriever 'Jack' who loves nothing more than trail rides (other than a good tasty stick). Had received my new 2010 Giant Reign SX the day before. The camera was placed on rocks and in trees since the tri-pod was nowhere to be found.

OK, so, I just watched the GoPro advertisement and I couldn't agree more with jcman's last comment. Very, very professional video - definitely a different approach than Contour. Looks like GP has put together a great new line...let the debate continue and let's see if Sony's entry makes a impact...
